Hennigan helps students learn more about city

What better way to get to know your college town than from the seat of a bicycle?

Point Park President Paul Hennigan led two dozen student leaders on a bicycle tour in and around Downtown Pittsburgh Aug. 20, pedaling down bike trails, across bridges, along rivers and through Point State Park. Campus Life staff members also rode along.

The goal was to help the students -- community mentors and community facilitators in Point Park's residence halls - get to know Pittsburgh better so they can share those experiences with other students, especially freshmen and sophomores. This was the second year Hennigan has led the bike tour for the CFs and CMs to help kick off a new academic year.

At key points along the way -- the Hot Metal Bridge, Point State Park, Washington's Landing -- Hennigan and the students stopped to learn about Pittsburgh's history, admire the sparkling rivers and take in the gleaming big city skyline before heading back to campus.
