Low-Residency Master's Degree for Artists Expanding the Boundaries of Their Practice

Point Park University offers a new two-year, low-residency M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts, one of the few programs of its kind in the country. The low-residency structure allows students to obtain a terminal degree without relocating or stepping away from existing careers, artistic practices or community commitments.

Designed for visual art, performance art, dance, writing, film, digital media, socially engaged work, or emerging forms yet to be named, this program uniquely provides the intellectual rigor, artistic mentorship and creative community for you to advance your work at the highest level.

M.F.A. Program At a Glance

Overview

In this 49-credit terminal degree program, student artists engage in studies, critiques and discussions that further their understanding of their artistic lineage and that of their product, from conception to presentation.

Unique to this program, students will work with and learn from nonprofit and commercial professionals to further develop their artistic visions as industry-ready pitches, publications or projects. Student artists are supported in their work through academic, practice-based and thesis courses.

The result is a graduate experience that is both deeply personal and broadly connected — one that supports informed artistic experimentation while fostering professional growth and leadership.
