Christal Chaney, Ph.D., has served as a professor of education at Point Park University since 1990. Her main fields of instruction are the philosophical models of early childhood and elementary education. Prior to Point Park, Chaney served as program director for the Michelle Norris Montessori School and the Mount Nittany Christian School and teacher for the Montessori Center Academy in Pittsburgh and State College Children's House in State College, Pa. She completed her student teaching at Lemont Elementary School in Lemont, Pa.

In addition to her teaching and advising responsibilities at Point Park, Chaney is the co-founder and director of Three Hierarchs Eastern Orthodox School, a private, non-public, non-profit religious school registered with the State of Pennsylvania Department of Education. Chaney has also spent the past several years working with the staff and children at the Hogar Ayau Raphael Orphanage in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
