Background
Jeannine French, Ph.D., is an accomplished educational leader with more than three decades of experience in public education and student services. In June 2026, she retired as Superintendent of the Peters Township School District. She led the high-performing district since 2013, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, strong community collaboration, academic success and professional growth among staff.
Prior to her time at Peters Township School District, French held several senior leadership roles within the Pittsburgh Public School District, including Deputy Superintendent, Chief of School Performance, and Assistant Superintendent (K-8 and Middle Schools). In those roles, she oversaw academic programming, student services and district-wide performance initiatives impacting thousands of students. Her earlier career in public education included positions as a principal, program director and behavioral specialist. She also held clinical roles at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute and Clinic and Health America, working with children and adults in clinic and school settings.
French earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Psychology from Duquesne University and a B.A. in Psychology from Allegheny College. She holds certifications in school leadership and administration from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. She was actively involved in regional and statewide educational organizations and advisory boards, and received various awards throughout her career. Most recently, French received the 2026 Dr. Jean E. Winsand Distinguished Woman in Education Award.
