Point Park men's soccer suffers 4-1 set back at home to Salem International

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University sufferred a 4-1 set back to Salem International in a non-conference men's soccer game Tuesday night at Highmark Stadium. The Pioneers (1-1-1) fell behind early, and Salem International (2-0) pulled away late to make it a three-goal margin.
Tomas Szabo scored two goals for Salem International, and his first tally gave the Tigers the early lead in the sixth minute. The scored remained 1-0 until sub Ousman Jaiteh scored in the 60th minute to tie things at 1-1. Gabriel Colombo assisted on Jaiteh's second goal of the year.
But Salem International broke the tie just three minutes later as Szabo struck for the game-winner in the 63rd minute. The Tigers made it 4-1 with a couple of goals in the final four minutes, the last of which came right at the final buzzer.
Both teams had 15 shots with Point Park registering six on goal, and Salem International with eight on goal. Derrick Whiten played all 90 minutes for the Pioneers in goal and made four saves.
Point Park goes on the road to play Northwestern Ohio this Saturday at 5 p.m. The Pioners return home Sept. 17 to play West Virginia Tech at 2 p.m.
Tuesday's game was the debut broadcast of men's soccer on the Point Park Sports Network on iHigh.com. The network set a record with more than 1,450 viewers for the game. The next broadcast is Tuesday vs. WV Tech. WATCH LIVE
