BOX SCORE

SOUTH PARK, Pa. -- Point Park University got its record back above .500 with Thursday night's 4-1 victory over La Roche in a non-conference men's soccer game at Century United South Park Complex.

Point Park improved to 7-6 overall by taking control with a 4-0 lead. La Roche (6-8) did not get on the scoreboard until the final 43 seconds of the game.

The game was played in a steady rain with the first seven minutes played in a very hard downpour. The game remained scoreless until late in the first half when Brett Gwosden scored for Point Park with 1:21 left on the clock.

Point Park took the momentum of the 1-0 halftime lead and quickly added to its advantage on Ousman Jaiteh's tally in the 54th minute. Alex Sala assisted on the play.

Tyler Sakolsky and Matt Annecchiarico connected on a nice two-man play with Annecchiarico flicking the ball in from right in front of the goal in the 70th minute for a 3-0 lead.

Sala gave Point Park a 4-0 lead with his strike on a free kick from just outside the 18. That goal came with 7:49 remaining.

La Roche spoiled the shutout on Ryan Luffey's goal with just 43 seconds left. The unassisted tally came off a free kick.

Point Park goalkeeper Mitchell Kelman got the start and did not give up a goal in 82 minutes. He made six saves. Zak Borzovoy played the final eight minutes with one goal against.

Point Park's next game is Monday at home versus Westminster. Game time at Century United is 8:30 p.m.
