Position:          Graduate Assistant – Honors Program

Department:   Academic Affairs

Term of appointment:  Eight-month assignment.  Assignment begins in August and continues through April. Assignment will begin at start if 2018-19 academic year and continue through the end of the term.  Summer will be assigned as approved, starting in May. The new graduate assistant will begin at a mutually agreed time in August to prepare for new honors students orientation at the end of August. The position is renewable for a second year.

Salary: $10 per hour for 20 hours per week (approximately $800 per month plus fully paid tuition and fees). Full-time tuition is for nine graduate credits per term. Room and board, additional tuition charges, books and incidental costs are not included.

Requirements:  Undergraduate degree in education, sociology, social work, psychology, journalism or communications, marketing or business. Experience with computer applications, including knowledge of Excel, computer layout and design software programs a plus. Consideration for the position includes acceptance into one of Point Park University’s master’s degree programs in education, journalism and mass communication, communications technology, leadership. education, psychology or business and enrollment in a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

3.50 GPA in undergraduate major

3.25 GPA overall

Primary duties:  To work as a program assistant, working with the director on program operations, event planning and oversight, marketing and publicity of program to prospective and current students, and some supervision of student employees.  Assistant will work 20 hours per week during the academic year. Summer work as arranged will involve preparation for the incoming fall class and preparations for the coming academic year. Other duties will be assigned as needed.
