The Police Department employs full-time dispatchers who are certified under the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials (APCO). All dispatchers have Pennsylvania certification in CPR, AED and first aid. These dispatchers communicate with the police officers who patrol University-owned buildings and the streets surrounding campus on foot, on bicycles and in patrol cars, maintaining high visibility throughout the area.

Our dispatchers are friendly, familiar faces on the Point Park campus, getting to know students, faculty and staff. They are ready to assist in all types of situations.

How do we keep Point Park safe?

  • 10 sworn police officers with 24/7 coverage on foot, bike, and patrol car
  • Police patrol a 5-block radius surrounding the campus
  • 4 civil dispatchers with 24/7 coverage
  • 650+ security cameras across campus, monitored 24/7 by dispatchers
  • Less than 1 minute response time to Public Safety calls
  • Every officer is equipped with a body cam as well as life-saving equipment
  • Accreditation by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Program through the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association
