Background
With over 15 years of experience in education as a teacher, assistant principal, researcher, programming leader and professional development facilitator, Michele Leyshon, Ed.D., brings a deep commitment to student success and a passion for inclusive, engaging learning environments.
Leyshon holds an Ed.D. in Urban Education from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas, and a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education from Slippery Rock University. She is a full-time Assistant Professor at Point Park University, where she has the privilege of preparing future educators to lead with empathy, data-informed strategies, and a collaborative spirit.
Leyshon's areas of expertise include elementary and special education, educational leadership and coaching, data analysis and racial equity in education. These experiences allow her to bridge theory and practice in meaningful ways, ensuring the coursework is both relevant and actionable.
Leyshon believes in a student-centered, collaborative and data-driven approach to teaching, infused with a genuine joy for learning.
Research Interests
Classroom management, racial equity, relational school climate, restorative practices, teacher effectiveness, classroom coaching and diverse learners.
