Guidelines for Faculty Requesting Instruction Sessions:
Course instructors should request a library instruction session at least one week in advance in order to schedule instruction space, equipment, handouts etc. The library will try to accommodate short notice requests when possible. An online form is available for requesting an instruction session: Schedule Library Instruction.

If you request a session by email, phone or in-person, the Library needs the following information: instructor name, department, email address, phone number, class name and section number, requested day and time, regular classroom location, number of students, objectives of instruction session, special student needs and any special resource instruction.

Confirmation will be sent within two business days with session date, time, location, instruction librarian and contact information. If not using the Library’s instruction lab, location may take longer to confirm as computer labs are scheduled through the Registrar or Media Services.

Librarians will be responsible for scheduling the location of library instruction sessions. Location depends on class size. For large classes, not all students may have individual computers. Locations include Library Computer Lab UC 219 and Campus Computer Labs.

Research validates the presence of the course instructor as essential for helping reinforce the objective of the library instruction session.

Course instructors should inform the library in advance of any special needs students.

If the library instruction session is assignment based, the course instructor should provide a copy of the assignment prior to the session.

Thank you! We look forward to meeting you and your students.
