Professor Jamie Talbott, Ph.D., has been in higher education for 30+ years. Throughout the years, she worked in various capacities including serving as director of special projects, division human resource liaison, capital and financial project director, director of retail services, assistant director for campus services.

Dr. T had the opportunity to participate in the implementation of Oracle financials and served as an Oracle trainer on general ledger, purchasing and self-service applications. Other training development and professional development initiatives includes Fundamentals in Neuroleadership through the NeuroLeadership Institute, being a certified trainer in Leadership through Quality Strategy Train the Trainer Program (through the Xerox Corporation in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University) and emotional intelligence professional development seminars (Linkage, Inc. and Pittsburgh Family Services).

After participating in Hosting World Café: The WC Fundamentals program, Dr. T serves as a host to World Café rooted initiatives, introduces masters and doctoral students to hosting principles, techniques and application, as well as the introduction and application of the World Café as research method.

Dr. Talbott has studied in traditional and nontraditional modalities. Her learner and scholar-practitioner experience includes full-time traditional classroom format, evening part-time format, Pitt-Saturday College, external studies program format, and in online and hybrid online/distributed low-residency programs.

Research Interests in Human Development

Ongoing research in human development focuses on

… the systems, relationships, and processes created to enlarge people’s freedoms and opportunities and those focused on human well-being, the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who to be, what to do and how to live. (Measure of America, a Project of the Social Science Research Council). From counseling psychology, this includes exploring human development through the lens of how and why human beings change over the course of their lifespan -- including physical, cognitive, social, intellectual, perceptual, personality and emotional growth or dampening, as well as individual motivations.

Research enfolds examining:

  • Interprofessional collaboration: cultivating a collaborative ecology
  • Dimensions of leadership intelligence and human-literacy©
  • Eating Disorders — exploring impact of life transitions, career change and repositioning challenges, professional identity and dual identity conflict; stress and anxiety — lifeworld contexts; and the allopathic as well as complementary and alternative healthcare circles attending to women over 40 years of age coping with eating disorders.
  • Meaningfulness in human work--social entrepreneurship, creativeneurship and global care chains
