Point Park University Brewing Academy Diversity Scholarship

The District Pittsburgh Chapter MBAA is proud to continue the Point Park University Brewing Academy Diversity Scholarship. The District Pittsburgh Chapter has partnered with Point Park University to offer two (2) full-tuition, single-use scholarships for the Brewing Science Academy.  In addition, through a state grant funded by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB), two (2) additional full-tuition scholarships are available.

The District Pittsburgh MBAA is dedicated to supporting educational and professional opportunities and taking proactive steps to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the brewing industry. These scholarships have been designed to promote diversity, inclusiveness and equity for all without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or physical ability within Pittsburgh’s brewing industry.

2024 Scholarship Application - Opening February 1, 2024

Applicants will need to be 21 years of age or older by the program start date and a legal resident of the United States. Underrepresented applicants including those identifying as an ethnic and/or racial minority, women, and members of the LBGTQ+ community will be given special consideration. Applicants must also exhibit leadership, professionalism and a strong desire to be active in the brewing community.

Applicants must also be available to attend the 2024 Brewing Science Academy at Point Park University. No travel expenses are included.

  • Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays | 5–8 p.m.
  • Format: On Campus at Point Park University | Downtown Pittsburgh, PA

Scholarship Timeline

  • Applications Open: Thursday, February 1, 2024
  • Applications Close: Friday, March 1, 2024
  • Finalists Notified: Before March 8, 2024
  • Scholarship Winners Announced: March 8, 2024
  • Brewing 101 Begins: May 13, 2024

Step 1: Complete the Scholarship Application Form
Complete the Scholarship Application Form online. As part of your scholarship application, please submit a short essay (500 words or less) about yourself, touching on the following: A) Briefly describe your experience with brewing and the brewing industry (if any), and your brewing-related ambitions for the future. B) How do you see the Brewing Science Academy furthering your goals? C) Please explain why obtaining one of the scholarships is important, and perhaps necessary, with regard to your ability to attend the course.
