Background

Ronald Hutson is originally from St. Louis, Mo., where he trained and danced with the Katherine Dunham Dancers and acted with City Players of St. Louis. 

Hutson has appeared in ballet character roles in productions at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, including The Nutcracker, Scheherezade and Cinderella. He has choreographed a number of works for the Conservatory Dance Company, including Raindance and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide for the Conservatory Theatre Company. 

Hutson has danced with and choreographed for the Pittsburgh African Drum and Dance Ensemble, now known as the Shona Sharif Company, notably in productions of Black Nativity at the Stephen Foster Memorial Theatre. He has also choreographed for the St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre, an equity company, and has published several dance feature articles in local Pittsburgh media. He continues his own education by training in yoga and with online and on-site seminars in creative writing. He has also become a gourd artist doing both beadwork and painted designs, and a gospel singer with the Baptist Temple Church in Pittsburgh.
