Fully Online Graduate Program for Professional Educators

Our 36-credit, Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction cohort program is designed to accommodate teaching professionals, as well as other professionals working in higher education.

We shift the focus of course work from theory to pragmatic application to best serve you as an educator.

At Point Park University, we understand the needs of today's students and have tailored our graduate education programs to be offered fully online.

Concentration Options

Students can choose from one of the following concentrations:

Reading Specialist Certification

You will learn enhanced reading skills that will enable you to work one-to-one or in small groups with students who are experiencing difficulty reading at grade level. You will obtain the necessary skills to assess students’ reading abilities, identifying deficiencies and creating intervention plans for grade-level students who have been identified in need of additional reading help. Through the practicum course in this program, students will be required to complete the mandated number of hours in a K-12 classroom environment. Learn more about the reading specialist certification concentration.

Teaching and Leadership

Improve and update your teaching skills while receiving the training to become a leader in the education profession. Teacher leadership, a key component of school improvement efforts, is a guiding principle. This concentration will provide you with the knowledge base and experience to enable students to face these challenges. Learn more about the teaching and leadership concentration.

PA Certification as a Supervisor of K-12 Curriculum and Instruction

Develop curricula for content areas that incorporate diverse learner populations and settings. This concentration is for professional educators with at least five years of successful teaching experience who wish to earn both a master's degree and Pennsylvania certification as a supervisor of K-12 curriculum and instruction.
