Transfer Credit Policy and Equivalencies
Calculating Transfer Equivalencies for Individual Class Transfer
Point Park offers the tool below to help to determine credit transfer from other institutions. If you do not find the institution or course you are looking for, it does NOT mean that Point Park University does not accept credits from that institution or that the University does not transfer that course. The database below is not comprehensive; Point Park will be adding institutions and courses on an ongoing basis.
The tool we use to help students explore their transfer options is Transferology. To see how the credits will transfer from one school into Point Park University, create a user account and login. This will help you determine how credit you've previously earned will transfer towards your degree at the University.
Note: Course equivalencies are subject to change.
This information should be used as a guide and does not take the place of an official evaluation of transfer credit by Point Park University.
Point Park University has and will be signing more articulation agreements with regional community and business colleges. To request a copy of a certain articulation agreement, please email Rick Mishler, Managing Director of Articulation, Transfer, and Prior Learning at rmishler@pointpark.edu.

Transfer Credit Policy
Undergraduate (online/ in-person):
Point Park University awards credit in semester hours. One credit is equivalent to 14 hours of class meeting time or equivalent instructional activities. Laboratories generally meet at least twice that amount of time per semester hour.
The maximum number of credits the University will grant for work completed through any combination at two-year colleges, proprietary schools, or the first two years at a four-year college is 70 credits. The University may grant an additional 20 credits, bringing the total to 90, for courses completed at the 300 and 400 levels at four-year colleges and universities.
Ninety-six credits may be accepted from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Sciences in the Capstone B.S. degree in Specialized Professional Studies in Funeral Services. All students must meet the residency requirements stated in the section on Graduation Requirements.
Students must submit official transcripts from each college or school attended and official records of test scores to the appropriate admissions office in order to receive Advanced Standing Credit. Applicants cannot expect to receive a final evaluation of credits until the application for admission and all previous academic records have been received.
Transfer students may submit course descriptions and syllabi to assist in the course evaluation process. Because preliminary evaluations proceed as the transcripts arrive, students should begin the transfer process as early as possible to provide accurate information during registration. Final evaluations of transfer credits are conducted once official transcripts have been received from the institutions where the credits were originally earned.
The University may grant transfer credits from accredited institutions. A minimum course grade of "C-“is required for consideration of transfer of course credit. Transfer courses must have comparable course learning outcomes to those at Point Park University. Transfer credits are designated with "PT" on the transcript and carry no quality points. Evaluation and acceptance of 54 credits completed ten years or more prior to the transfer request is exceptional. The ultimate decision in such cases resides with the department chair.
Graduate
Students may, at their program's discretion, be able to transfer graduate credits from other institutions, provided those credits carry a grade of "B" or above. Courses with grades of "B-" and lower will not be accepted in transfer. Only credits in academic subjects relevant to the Point Park graduate programs will be accepted. Transfer credit decisions are made by the director of the graduate program in which the student is enrolling, regardless of the discipline in which the proposed transfer credits were earned.
