POSITION:  Azure Administrator

DEPARTMENT:  Information Technology Services (ITS)

REPORTS TO:  Associate Vice President, ITS

WORK SCHEDULE:   Hybrid Work Schedule

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

  • Day-to-Day Operations: Handle tasks such as adding new users, creating groups, setting permissions, and troubleshooting issues related to Azure.
  • Monitoring Usage: Monitor usage patterns and rates to ensure efficient and effective utilization of the system.
  • Security Management: Maintain security by identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and taking necessary actions to mitigate them.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Address technical issues like email delivery failures or authentication problems.
  • Feature Deployment: Manage the deployment of new features or functionality after testing in a staging environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s  degree in information science, computer science or related field preferred or the experience and certification equivalent.

DUTIES:

  1. The Azure Administrator will be the main point of contact for technical and support issues related to Azure administration. Resolve assigned cases/tickets, change requests, and acts as an escalation point for support issues.
  2. Monitor and respond to issues or service requests reported to the Help Desk and create and resolve problem tickets for service issues
  3. Pro-actively participate in escalated issue resolution for Azure applications, tools, features, etc.
  4. Assist with the design and development of Azure specific security policies, standards, and procedures - e.g. auditing and monitoring, security incident and event management, data protection, user and administrator account management, and conditional access controls.
  5. Write and support custom scripts (PowerShell) to remediate issues and automate tasks as well as to support reporting, licensing, and troubleshooting Azure and on premises AD, Exchange, and SharePoint deployments.
  6. Adhere to technical policies, standards, best practices, and organization's Change Management procedures.
  7. Ensure quality standards are met for engineered solutions and promote continuous improvement across the entire Azure platform.
  8. Identify technology enhancements that would improve overall user experience and feature offerings
  9. Provide and maintain clear, concise, and customized documentation that is appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences.
  10. Work on assigned projects and complete within timetable established by leadership
  11. Pro-actively identify and successfully troubleshoot technical issues in a timely manner, provide leadership updates on problem resolution, and provide progress report to customers and management on a regular basis.
