POSITION:                         Coordinator of Student Conduct & Alcohol/Drug Education

DEPARTMENT:                Office of Student Affairs

REPORTS TO:                   Managing Director, University Advising Center

SCHEDULE:                       This is a fully on-campus position.

REQUIREMENTS:           

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years experience in Student Affairs. 
  • Relevant experience in student conduct, student affairs, or a related field within a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated experience managing student conduct cases, conducting investigations, and implementing conduct processes and procedures
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and understanding of issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Understanding of relevant federal and state laws, as well as University policies and procedures related to student conduct and disciplinary processes
  • Knowledge of best practices in student conduct administration, conflict resolution, and restorative justice principles.
  • Familiarity with student development practices and applying these practices in supporting student behavior and conduct
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Skill in conflict resolution, mediation, and crisis management
  • Ability to manage caseloads efficiently and maintain accurate records. 
  • Proficiency in using relevant technology and software for case management and reporting
  • Organization skills and attention to detail
  • Capacity to collaborate with other campus departments
  • Adherence to ethical standards
  • Understanding of and commitment to promoting student rights and responsibilities within the framework of the University’s policies and regulations.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  To help manage and ensure the accuracy and efficacy of all aspects of the University's non-academic student conduct system and deliver alcohol and drug education/programming to various University constituents.

DUTIES:

  1. Reviews incident, behavioral, and Public Safety reports daily in consultation with the Managing Director of UAC, the Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students, and the AVP of Student Affairs/Dean of Student Life.
  2. Assigns cases for adjudication and ensures that all cases are resolved within an appropriate time frame.
  3. Generates, prepares, and edits all correspondence related to the University's non- academic student conduct system for the Managing Director of UAC, the Vice President of Student Affairs, and/or the AVP of Student Affairs.
  4. Assists with management, design, and implementation of any automated/on-line process associated with the student conduct system (Maxient).
  5. Assists with management of the Drug and Alcohol Education Program at the University.
  6. Assists in serving as the liaison to the campus community in matters dealing with non-academic student conduct, including but not limited to, Public Safety, Student Life, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and the Office of Compliance and integrity.
  7. Conducts and maintains up-to-date material on all higher education research dealing with university student conduct policies, procedures, and laws.
  8. Helps to handle and resolve all student/parent inquiries associated with the student conduct system.
  9. Assists with planning, coordinating, and implementing the training of all student and professional staff with regards to the University's student conduct systems; including the training of associates dealing with all higher education acts.
  10. Assists with the writing, editing, and updating of all University publications related to the Office of Student Conduct, including the annual Student Handbook.
  11. Prepares, analyzes, and maintains statistical information associated with the University's student conduct system and generates weekly reports and other reports as needed.
  12. Maintains the confidentiality of all conduct records in accord with FERPA as well as stipulations set forth in the Student Code of Conduct.
  13. Coordinates the content and accuracy of information located on the University web pages associated with Student Conduct.
  14. Serves in emergency/crisis situations as directed.
  15. Performs other related duties and services as assigned by the Managing Director of UAC, the Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students, and the AVP of Student Affairs/ Dean of Student Life.
