Position:          Graduate Assistant – Rowland School of Business

Department:   Business Management

Term of appointment:  This position is for the 2023-2024 academic year. Full-time tuition is for nine (9) graduate credits per term (not including summer), up to a maximum of 18 graduate credits per year. Room, board, additional tuition charges, books and incidental costs are not included.

Salary: Graduate Assistant positions require up to 20 hours of work on campus per week and are only open to students who are registered, full-time degree candidates.

Requirements:  Graduate assistantships ordinarily run from September 1- April 30. Students must be enrolled in graduate classes within their program each semester they receive a Graduate Assistant stipend.
  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree with outstanding academic record.
  • Discipline Area: Admittance into the MBA or MA of Organizational Leadership program;
  • Must maintain enrollment and an overall GPA of 3.0;
  • Experience with leadership programs and activities.
  • Above average communication skills – quality writing, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Maintain a professional manner on and off campus.
  • Ability to uphold strict confidentiality guidelines.

FUNCTION: Graduate assistant will report to the Department Chair/Assistant to the Chair/Dean, who determines work assignments based on the needs of the department and the talents and skills of the successful candidate.  Work may be required during academic holiday periods.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

The Graduate Assistant will be assigned responsibility in project areas listed below:
  • Assist with leadership of department initiatives such as Women in Industry, Entrepreneurship
  • Center, and RSB Podcasts.
  • Provide assistance and coordination for RSB functions and programs involving alumni, faculty, staff and students.
  • Assist in creating and updating the RSB digital and print media inclusive of social media.
  • Conduct and assist faculty with research related to academic and professional discipline.
  • Serve as a member of the Graduate Student Association.
  • Other duties as assigned


Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes:

  • Experience organizing projects and events.
  • Willingness to lead, offer opinions and direction.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access).
  • Basic experience with Adobe Photoshop.
  • Self-starter, willing to work independently.
  • Social media and basic design skills are desirable
