Position opening: Graduate Assistant - Social Media
Department: Marketing, Enrollment Management and Marketing Division
Term of appointment: One academic year assignment, with opportunity for renewal for fall 2026 semester. Appointment begins with the Spring 2026 semester (January) and lasts through end of April.
Salary: $10.00 per hour, up to $3,200 per semester (for a total of $6,400 for the academic year), plus fully paid tuition and fees.
Requirements: Undergraduate degree in public relations, advertising, social media, social media management, journalism, marketing, media studies, mass communicaton or similar degree. Professional and/or student experience in social media, multimedia (photo/video) preferred. Must have knowledge of all social media platforms and familiarity with best practices, accessibility and trends.
Applicants for this assistantship must already have been admitted into a relevant master’s program at Point Park University and must commit to enroll in a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester. The application processes for the graduate program and the graduate assistantships are separate.
Primary duties: Graduate assistant will support the social media manager in the university’s
marketing department with the ultimate goal of increasing recruitment and enrollment by creating engaging content for prospective students/families on Point Park’s social media platforms. Responsibilites will primarily include content creation which will include, but not be limited to, partipating in photos/videos, pitching ideas for video content (TikTok/Instagram Reels, etc.), attending events and doing real-time live capture and posting, editing social media videos and coordinating and formating appropriate social media images/videos to post existing stories to platforms (some training will be provided as required). Grad assistant will collaborate with student workers and other colleagues across the enrollment management and marketing umbrella to meet strategy goals. Potentail for some project supervision of the marketing department’s undergraduate student workers.
