"I chose Point Park University because the location was convenient and the electrical engineering technology program offers both classroom and hands-on experience — and has an excellent rapport with internal and external companies. Point Park was founded on rich diversity, and I was intrigued by the positive community life on campus."

Tell us about the internship work you do for Connect Wolf.

At Connect Wolf, I work with intelligent and helpful individuals and engineers who give instructions on what to do on a day-to-day basis. On the first day, I was tasked to research about encryption exportation regulations to ensure that our product meets regulation and standards set by the Bureau of Industry and Security.

Currently, I'm working on building a battery tester for our product, aided with the construction of a printed circuit board (PCB) using KiCad.

What factors made you choose Point Park University to study engineering?

I chose Point Park University because the location was convenient and the electrical technology engineering program offers both classroom and hands-on experience — and has an excellent rapport with internal and external companies. Point Park was founded on rich diversity, and I was intrigued by the positive community life on campus.

Also, my friend graduated from Point Park in 2012 and suggested I go here after he was offered a job from Siemens right after graduating.

During my tenure with the University, I have had excellent professors who offered high quality education and resources for students to succeed.

How have your Point Park classes and the faculty helped you in this internship?

First, the electrical engineering technology classes provide lectures and coursework, but also lab work and hands-on experience to create an environment that demonstrates real-life applications. The classes supported my own learning style when it came to creating and designing items included, but not limited to, electronic circuits and battery testing.

With the help of Dr. Gregg Johnson, I was able to obtain a summer internship. Prior to this, I have gained exceptional experience working along side him. As my advisor, he has helped me to organize my courses to ensure my success with the program. He always makes me feel welcome and has an encouraging demeanor, helping me along when I need guidance.

What are your favorite things to do in Pittsburgh?

My favorite things to do in Pittsburgh include biking, photography, hiking, kayaking, soccer and running.

What are your career goals and how will your engineering degree from Point Park help you reach them?

My career goals are to be an engineering manager with Siemens or Microsoft. I was inspired by my friend, a Point Park graduate who was able to obtain a job with Siemens, and this is owed to the fact that he attended Point Park University. Just this alone motivates me to continue my studies with the University since Point Park offers me a great deal of opportunity.
