"As a musician aspiring to work on live productions, this school gave me the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and gain hands-on experience."
Why did you choose Point Park University?
I chose Point Park for multiple reasons. I always loved the idea of being in a city and Pittsburgh has many connections in the production industry. When I applied to school, there were only two universities in the country that offered entertainment production engineering (EPE): Purdue University and Point Park. As a musician aspiring to work on live productions, this school gave me the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and gain hands-on experience.
What do you enjoy the most about the EPE program?
I love the hands-on experience that the program provides. We have gotten to work on shows, work with production companies to learn how to assemble a production, and learned and used equipment. I also love the connection building. We have worked with and connected with people who are well-established in production, and we have built our professional connections early on.

What do you do with Pioneer Records? How do you use your EPE skills there?
This year I was a volunteer. I also got to play the Pioneer Records showcase as the backing band for the star Brynn Elena. I used some of my class experience through EPE when helping set up events and providing input.
What about the EPE program drew you to the degree? What about entertainment engineering interested you the most?
I have always loved live music and all of the work that goes into it. I have also always been fascinated by engineering and problem-solving. With the combination of the two, I felt this degree would allow me to pursue live music and entertainment while also helping me develop essential engineering skills.
What are your career goals?
My career goal is to become a touring musician. I would love to be on the road, playing music for a career. When I am not touring, I would love to work around music and live productions. Whether as a technician or on a production team.
What advice do you have for prospective Point Park students?
Join the clubs that allow you to pursue the things that you find fun. You will build amazing friendships and connections. This also lets you take a break from academic stress and have even more fun!
