“Becky’s extensive experience in higher education – from teaching in the classroom to multiple roles in leadership and development – makes her a perfect fit to lead the School of Arts and Sciences. It is vital to have strong leaders like Becky in place as we continue to see enrollment growth and further develop our leadership role in Downtown Pittsburgh and the region.”

Following a nationwide search, Point Park University has named Becky Spritz, Ph.D., as the new dean of its School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Spritz comes to Point Park after spending more than 20 years at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I., most recently as associate provost for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Spritz served as a member of the Roger Williams senior administrative leadership team, providing support to the provost on key strategic initiatives for the university, particularly the 10-year accreditation process, graduate program development, and faculty teaching and learning initiatives.

At Point Park, Dr. Spritz takes over a School of Arts and Sciences composed of four departments:

“Becky’s extensive experience in higher education – from teaching in the classroom to multiple roles in leadership and development – makes her a perfect fit to lead the School of Arts and Sciences,” said Shari Payne, Ed.D., provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “It is vital to have strong leaders like Becky in place as we continue to see enrollment growth and further develop our leadership role in Downtown Pittsburgh and the region.”

Dr. Spritz earned three degrees from Penn State University, including a B.S. in Psychology, an M.S. in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She began her career in higher education as a visiting assistant professor of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross and later as an assistant professor of Psychology at Suffolk University before joining Roger Williams.

“Having grown up in the Pittsburgh area, joining the Point Park family is truly a homecoming for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead the School of Arts and Sciences,” Dr. Spritz said. “There is no other university in the area that offers such a rich array of programs in the heart of the city. I look forward to working with the incredibly dedicated and talented Arts and Sciences faculty to develop and strengthen academic and career pathways for Point Park's undergraduate and graduate students.”
