"Point Park was the best option for me. They had electrical engineering, which I wanted to study all during high school, and they had a lot more to offer. Since I lived in the Pittsburgh area, I was able to commute while also continuing to work part time. I was also able to play soccer against some of the best teams at the college level. Both of my parents are Point Park alumni, and, for me, it was an easy decision."

Describe your role at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. What do you like about it?

I completed an internship last summer at CEC, and I started as an intern this summer before they hired me as a full-time electrical engineer. I am one of the electrical engineers in the Manufacturing Infrastructure Services practice. My daily activities include performing calculations to size transformers, motor control centers, switchgear, cables, conduit and cable tray. All our drawings are developed in Revit 3D software. A significant part of my job is communicating with our team of mechanical and structural engineers, as well as the project manager and our clients.

Why did you choose Point Park for electrical engineering?

Point Park was the best option for me. They had electrical engineering, which I wanted to study all during high school, and they had a lot more to offer. Since I lived in the Pittsburgh area, I was able to commute while also continuing to work part time. I was also able to play soccer against some of the best teams at the college level. Both of my parents are Point Park alumni, and, for me, it was an easy decision.

How did Point Park prepare you for your career?

The academic programs at Point Park did a great job at preparing me for my career. There are things that are brought up on a weekly basis at my job that I learned at Point Park. My coursework also helped me to understand the importance of communication and organization in engineering, and those skills will put you on the track for success.

In what ways did Point Park's faculty impact you?

Many of the professors that I had at Point Park were very helpful. Most have worked in a lot of hands-on engineering positions while also teaching. Hearing about their real-world experience helped us learn and understand what to expect after graduation.

Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?

Point Park is a great option. There is a diverse student base and a wide variety of majors to choose from. Whether you are coming straight from high school or returning to school later in life, Point Park will have an option for you. Going to school in the heart of Pittsburgh is an amazing experience that has taught me so much and has resulted in amazing memories that I will never forget.
