"The professors will push you to make sure that you get the best possible experience from every single one of your classes. They’re also really knowledgeable about the subjects they teach and put a lot of effort and care into making sure that you’re actually learning the material and making real-world connections."
Why did you choose Point Park University?
I chose Point Park because I wanted to attend a smaller university while also being in an urban area in a large city.
What do you enjoy the most about the History and Political Science programs?
The professors will push you to make sure that you get the best possible experience from every single one of your classes. They’re also really knowledgeable about the subjects they teach and put a lot of effort and care into making sure that you’re actually learning the material and making real-world connections.
@pointparku POV: you double major AND still have time to lead & give back! What made you choose to double major?
I took an Introduction to Politics class during my first semester at Point Park, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to pursue a degree in political science alongside my history degree.
Can you share what it’s like to be a Bonner Leader? What kind of work does that include?
Being a Bonner Leader means that I work with a nonprofit organization in the Pittsburgh area for all four years of my degree at Point Park. In my case, I’m currently partnered with the Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation, where I do communications work and help out wherever I’m needed, like at their Hugh’s Kitchen program, which is their food pantry. The work does vary from organization to organization, however.
What real-world experiences have you had related to your major?
While at Hugh Lane, I’ve done a lot of research-related work on specific projects, while also navigating a shifting political climate that has significantly impacted the work I do with them.
What are your career goals?
I want to make a difference in the world and help make it a better place for all of us to live. I also want to learn as much as I can about the world around me and share what I learn with others.
What advice do you have for prospective Point Park students?
Get involved on this campus. Point Park has so many different clubs and student organizations, and is always looking for more. If you don’t see something that you’re interested in, make that club for it. Your college experience is what you make it, and getting involved will enrich that experience so much!
