What excites you about your new job at Ernst & Young?
This is my first time working for a large-scale consulting firm, which will help me work toward my career goals in the IT industry. My responsibilities include gathering information to perform root cause analysis, providing recommendations and supporting with business case development; monitoring progress, managing risks and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed and constantly considering, sharing and implementing new ways to improve our products and processes. It excites me because it’s one of the Big 4 firms when it comes assurance, tax/audit, technology and business consulting.
How did Point Park's Applied Computer Science program prepare you for career success?
I apply the lessons I learned from the applied computer science program through my technical and communication skills in working at the enterprise level and in consulting. At Point Park, I worked closely with agile developers, scrum masters, product owners, project managers and stakeholders.
After receiving your bachelor's degree, why did you decide to continue your education at Point Park?
I decided to enroll in Point Park's dual MBA and Master of Science in Information Systems and Business Analytics program so that I can invest in my career and explore a future path in growing from a developer into a manager within the IT field/industry. The program is great, and I'd like to thank professors Mark Voortman, Ph.D., Jeffrey J. Seaman, M.I.S., and Archish Maharaja, CFP, CPA/PFS, Ed.D., for giving me this opportunity for my professional development.
Which faculty members had a positive impact on you?
Professors Voortman and Seaman had a positive impact on my learning experience. They taught me how to take the skills I learned in the classroom and apply them in the workplace, including at EY and at my past co-op position at Philips Respironics, where I worked as a software engineer intern testing code in the UI front-end angular and back end in Java Spring Boot/JUnit.
