How did you find out about Point Park University?

Growing up in the Pittsburgh area, I was always interested in Point Park and all the city had to offer. I decided to go north for my undergraduate degree and explore a town I was unfamiliar with. After graduating and returning home, I began to work for BNY Mellon. I had just graduated with a political science degree and was not quite sure where this opportunity would take me. During that time, I became interested in business and financial services. I learned that Point Park offered a part-time, weeknight MBA program through my dad who teaches in the School of Education. I toured the campus, met with faculty and the rest is history.

What attracted you to the MBA program?

The program seemed challenging with diverse coursework and faculty with various backgrounds. The MBA program offered flexibility in receiving my degree so that I could still work full time. The program was affordable and conveniently located near my place of employment at that time.

In what ways did the Rowland School of Business faculty and classes impact you?

I appreciated their understanding in knowing that most of the students were also working full time. With that in mind, the faculty kept every class engaging and often provided scenarios of the concepts that we could apply to our current jobs. They were always willing to help and were so supportive of the students.

What career advice do you have for current Rowland School of Business students?

We are living through strange times, and everything seems difficult these days. The uncertainty of the world around us makes it hard for us to plan our next move. Keep working toward your degree. Whether you are completing undergraduate or graduate-level coursework, a degree in business will only help you achieve your career goals, even if you are not quite sure what those goals are yet.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Advocate for yourself in your career and in everything you do. Take every opportunity as a learning experience. Learn from your mistakes and never stop challenging yourself.
