"Walt came to us recommended by Dr. Dorene Ciletti. Dr. Ciletti is a passionate advocate for marketing and sales and we knew that Walt would have had really good theory and practice in her courses. When we interviewed Walt, we knew he would be perfect for our company. He is entrepreneurial, owning a clothing business; he is professional and enthusiastic about sales; he is a curious learner and he is always asking for feedback. Walt came into this role with a solid understanding of the approach to consultative sales and he also had experience (and a great outcome!) with a sales competition. He is one of the most advanced and prepared interns I've ever worked with and his studies have surely prepared him to be an accelerated sales professional."

Shannon J. Gregg, MBA, '14, '20, president, Cloud Adoption Solutions

"I've had great professors in the Rowland School of Business who have taught me many skills I can apply to the real world. For example, the training I received in class for the 2019 Steel City Sales Challenge was very beneficial. Also, I've had professors who showed me they really believed in me and allowed me to see and work towards my fullest potential."

How did you land your internship with Cloud Adoption Solutions?

Shannon Gregg, a Point Park MBA graduate and Ph.D. in community engagement student and owner of Cloud Adoption Solutions was looking to hire someone for business development/sales in Pittsburgh

Dr. Dorene Ciletti, associate professor of marketing and sales at Point Park, reached out and made me aware of this opportunity and was willing to serve as a reference for me. I submitted my resume to Shannon and then had an interview. This internship has been an excellent learning experience and I'm grateful for it.

Tell us about the work you do as a business development representative intern.

As an intern, I am learning the ins and outs of sales from lead generation to prospecting to becoming a trusted advisor to clients. I contact small and medium businesses in health care/life sciences, professional services and technology sectors to sell our services, which help businesses best optimize Salesforce, a leading customer relationship platform.

Why did you choose to be a Point Park Pioneer?

Baseball and academic scholarships helped me choose to be a Point Park Pioneer. Baseball did not work out, however, I believe everything happens for a reason and my time here has still provided me with a lot of learning opportunities and experiences that have allowed me to connect with people who have helped me along my journey.

How did the faculty and classes in the Rowland School of Business help you to be career-ready?

I've had great professors in the Rowland School of Business who have taught me many skills I can apply to the real world. For example, the training I received in class for the 2019 Steel City Sales Challenge was very beneficial. Also, I've had professors who showed me they really believed in me and allowed me to see and work towards my fullest potential.
