"Going to school in Downtown Pittsburgh was one of the main reasons I chose to come to Point Park. The campus location connects students to the best of what Pittsburgh has to offer. Not only are we minutes from Market Square and Point State Park, but there are many hidden gems in terms of restaurants and attractions just a short walk from Point Park's campus."

Describe your job at Federated Mortgage Corp.

The main role of a mortgage loan officer is to assist home buyers in applying for and ultimately obtaining a mortgage. We help borrowers determine which loan product best suits them and their needs. Loan officers collect large amounts of financial documentation from borrowers and analyze it to decide which loan product is best for them. From the beginning of the mortgage application process until the ink meets the paper at closing, we are the main point of contact between the borrower and lender. The best part of my job is helping people realize their dream of owning a home!

What did you like about the economics and finance program at Point Park?

I liked that it was one of the smaller departments. This allowed me to get to know my professors, as well as the other students in the program. I liked that the coursework was a healthy mix of history, theory and mathematics. The program combines both economics and finance, which helps students stand out in the field, earning a well-rounded degree in two major business fields.

How did Point Park's faculty impact you?

The faculty at Point Park did a great job at always making me feel like my opinion mattered. Class discussions were very open, and everyone had a voice. The faculty did a great job making themselves available to students, even with their busy schedules.

What did you enjoy about going to school in Downtown Pittsburgh?

Going to school in Downtown Pittsburgh was one of the main reasons I chose to come to Point Park. The campus location connects students to the best of what Pittsburgh has to offer. Not only are we minutes from Market Square and Point State Park, but there are many hidden gems in terms of restaurants and attractions just a short walk from Point Park's campus. During my sophomore year, I took a COPA class based on appreciation for the arts. One day in class, we did an architectural tour of the city and it was truly fascinating. The rugby team would hold practice at Point State Park. Running around as the hustle and bustle of the city moved around us was something I will never forget.

Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?

I truly believe the Point Park experience was one of a kind. Being directly in the middle of a major city, while having small class sizes and personal relationships with professors, is very special. The connections and networking opportunities that Point Park provides are remarkable for its relatively small size. There is something for everyone at Point Park, and you will always feel included, no matter what your background and life experiences are. I will cherish my four years at Point Park always.
