"Point Park has an excellent accounting program. The accounting professors are very proactive with students, and the smaller class sizes allow students to work closely with their professors. Students have an opportunity to be more vocal and build strong relationships with their professors."

Update, August 2023: Edwin completed his MBA at Point Park and is now employed by Ernst & Young. He is currently enrolled in Point Park's Ph.D. in Community Engagement program. He is pictured above with Dr. Chris W. Brussalis, President of Point Park, at the 2023 Outstanding Student Awards.

Describe the work you do as an Ernst & Young intern.

I worked on a project with the tax department, and I was responsible for inputting data entries on templates for one of EY’s biggest accounts. I worked with the tax department for two weeks, and then I rotated to the audit department for two more weeks, during which I was responsible for making data entries and adjustments to one of their audit projects.

How did your accounting classes help you in this role?

My accounting classes played a major role in how comfortable I felt coming into this internship. The efforts that Point Park's professors put into the education of their students prepares us for the reality of an accounting career.

What makes Point Park's accounting program stand out from other universities?

Point Park has an excellent accounting program. The accounting professors are very proactive with students, and the smaller class sizes allow students to work closely with their professors. Students have an opportunity to be more vocal and build strong relationships with their professors.

As a Point Park baseball player, what do you like about our athletic program

Point Park overall has a very strong athletic program. We compete at the national level in multiple sports. It can be extremely difficult to balance my busy academic and athletic schedules when we are constantly traveling all season long, but It only improves my time management skills. The professors do a great job of working with student athletes and truly make sure that they are getting the academic material down.

Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?

I would recommend Point Park to a prospective student because this is a University where you will have a positive relationship with your professors. You are not just a statistic here. Professors are here to help you, and the size of our classes allows them to do just that.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I would like to thank the professors and staff of Point Park for giving me an opportunity to excel and for investing in my future. One day, I will be able to proudly say that I’ve earned an accounting degree from Point Park, and that wouldn’t be possible without the city of Pittsburgh and the University embracing me.
