A wave of green and gold school spirit marched through the streets of Downtown Pittsburgh on Nov. 5, 2025.

Organized in part by students, the "Follow the Herd" pep rally allowed the Point Park University community to come together and celebrate their school spirit. The festivities kicked off in Village Park, then students, staff, faculty and fans marched over to Highmark Stadium to tailgate before the Women's and Men's Senior Night soccer games against West Virginia's Salem University.

The event was created and produced by the Sports, Arts, Entertainment and Music (SAEM) Business capstone course, which has been the creative force behind several on-campus events this fall. Students worked closely with officials around campus in their planning, putting their classroom skills to the test to create something memorable for the community.

During the celebration, the marching band from Taylor Allderice High School helped keep the energy high throughout the rally with music that echoed throughout the buildings around campus. Students who attended the celebration in Village Park were treated to free food, a special t-shirt to celebrate the event and could pose for photos with Pioneer mascot Black Diamond II.

After enjoying the celebrations at Village Park, students marched across the Smithfield Street Bridge and along the riverfront path that leads to Highmark Stadium. Along the way, the campus community enjoyed music, chants, drum cadences and a chance to show off their school spirit.

Students hope to make the pep rally a recurring tradition to campus, giving future Pioneers an opportunity to show their school spirit each year.
