"Laura learned a lot in her time as a co-op intern and was familiar with our internal systems and processes. She took it upon herself to pursue our open position and went out of her way to make time to sit with some of our current analysts to learn more about our daily operations in preparation for a full-time role. Her initiative and desire to learn were a major factor in our decision to hire along with her experience as a co-op intern."
"I recommend for students to pursue a co-op during their education, especially seniors getting ready to graduate and enter the workforce. Co-ops provide leverage and make for a nice segue into a full-time position!"
Tell us about your co-op position with Federated Hermes and how you were recently offered a full-time position with the company.
My co-op position with Federated Hermes was a very enlightening experience for me. It was not easy, but it helped me grow accustomed to the lifestyle of working full time and gaining industry experience to better qualify me as a job applicant. When a position opened at Federated Hermes near the end of my co-op, I quickly expressed my interest and was soon hired.
What factors made you choose Point Park University?
I was drawn to Point Park for the creative energy on campus and I was really attracted to its Downtown Pittsburgh location.
In what ways have our faculty and staff impacted you?
The faculty and staff at Point Park have left a lasting impression on me and have helped me form my way of thinking and develop my knowledge on fundamental aspects of business all around. Many of my professors have made great mentors.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, what do you miss most about campus?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve missed being Downtown and on campus, going to class and interacting with my peers and professors. Those times have been both formative and memorable for me.
What advice do you have for our students who are considering doing a co-op?
I recommend for students to pursue a co-op during their education, especially seniors getting ready to graduate and enter the workforce. Co-ops provide leverage and make for a nice segue into a full-time position!
