"It's exciting to see my video clips [of the games] go viral online, knowing that millions of people are enjoying them all over the world ... My game highlights ended up as the top three viral videos in the world! The fact that people are enjoying the same thing I am makes me feel like I'm doing something right."

Francesca Fronzaglio

What steps did you take to secure your job with the NFL?

With my experience in video editing and knowledge of the work flow at the NFL, my boss thought I was qualified enough for the promotion. Previously, I was a post-production assistant in media services with the NFL.

What are your responsibilities as a producer and editor?

I work on game days (Monday, Thursday and Sunday) producing any videos from NFL Network televised shows as well as pre-game/post-game shows on game day. At my edit bay, I am responsible for watching the game and noticing any important plays that audiences would find interesting for highlights. I cut the highlights in real time so that they are available for syndicated partners and online as soon as possible. At the end of the game, I re-organize the GameCenter on our NFL website so it is user-friendly, and I edit game/player highlights and post-game pressers. All videos are available for syndicated partners and sent out to the teams as well as accessible for the NFL app, syndicated partner apps and both websites (NFL GameCenter is where anyone can monitor a specific game with statistics and videos).

What do you enjoy most about your job and why?

My job is to watch football and that's the coolest thing ever! It's exciting to see my video clips go viral online, knowing that millions of people are enjoying them all over the world. I'll never forget the first game Sam Darnold (rookie quarterback, New York Jets) or Baker Mayfield (rookie quarterback, Cleveland Browns) played; I got to produce and edit history, where both game highlights ended up as the top three viral videos in the world! The fact that people are enjoying the same thing I am makes me feel like I'm doing something right.

What college experiences impact you most in this role?

My broadcast internship with the University of Pittsburgh's ACC Network impacted me most. Working in the studio during live games prepared me for the stress, pressure and responsibility that is needed in live sports television. I was later hired and worked there during my last semester senior year.

Additionally, I worked in the music industry with the Vans Warped Tour, which helped me branch my relationships outside of Pittsburgh. If I didn't stop in Los Angeles during the 2016 Vans Warped Tour, I would have never found my love for the city I wanted to call home. Erin Howard, one of Point Park's career counselors, was a great support system and resource to help me find this job.

What advice do you have for a student interested in Point Park?

Don't be afraid to branch out of your major or your comfort zone. If you have an interest in something that doesn't pertain to your major, take the class as an elective. Meet the professors, talk with them and tell them why you want to take their class and what you expect out of it. Also, visit the Career Development Center! If I hadn't met Erin, I would have never taken the leap to move to L.A. or apply to the NFL before graduation. The career counselors care about your success and you will never fall short in succeeding or completing your dreams!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

If you find the courage to do something new once a day, you'll never be afraid to face your fears. Travel to an unknown city, meet friends from different parts of the world and find the joy in new adventures. You'll discover dreams and passions that you didn't know existed, and Point Park prepares you in every aspect.
