Why did you choose to attend Point Park's School of Communication?

The adjunct professors who were still working in the field is what got me hooked. I saw students coming out of Point Park with hands-on internships and the connections to lead them to get jobs. I wanted the same.

Describe the School of Communication professors?

Quirky, fun and intelligent. I learned a lot in the sense of theory and hands-on production from all of my professors. I still keep in contact with many of them and we have built great relationships. I still ask them for advice.

Please list internship experiences you had as a student.

  • Pittsburgh magazine
  • Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

What are your current job responsibilities?

Multimedia has become the niche word for journalists. I'm a one-man band who produces, shoots and edits on-camera video packages for the website. I also photograph and write for the paper. I love using a variety of mediums and being able to choose the best one that can tell the story I'm working on.

Why would you recommend the School of Communication?

It was fun. I was able to produce solid news packages for my resumé reel, which allowed me to interview at an NBC affiliate in West Virginia and then, ultimately land my first job at a daily newspaper in Philadelphia and New Jersey working as a multimedia journalist. Also, Point Park has small class sizes so students really do get hands-on experience and just the right attention from professors.
