Why did you choose to attend Point Park?

Point Park has an amazing School of Communication and I was very impressed by the variety of majors available, allowing me to focus on what I wanted to learn to a higher degree than what other schools in the area seemed to offer. I also heard a lot of good things from people I talked to who had graduated from Point Park's School of Communication.

As a commuter student, traveling from my home to Point Park is extremely easy on the T (light rail). It was really important that I could commute to school, because I wanted to save money and have the chance to watch my brother grow up. The School of Communication is top notch with excellent teachers. I also enjoyed the honest, laid back attitude at Point Park when it comes to non-academic programs, as I dislike the heavy emphasis that other schools put on their sports teams.

How did you land your internship?

Professor Heather Starr Fiedler suggested this internship because of my desire to work in the comic book industry. She helped me connect with one of their past interns who introduced me to Mandi Bridgeman, the director of marketing and programming at the ToonSeum. I also utilized the Career Development Center to make sure my resume was polished before I applied to the ToonSeum.

What is your favorite thing about your internship?

The ToonSeum is a really flexible and friendly work environment. It's a great place to have my first internship as it has allowed me to try out many different responsibilities as they were needed.

Describe the School of Communication faculty.

As a whole, the professors at Point Park are excellent and they treat you with respect. They all have experience in their field, recognize those who are willing to work and will help you as much as they can.

Why is your double major a good fit for you?

I enjoy working online, behind-the-scenes and I love to write. I feel like my chosen majors will give me the freedom to do all of these things.

Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?

Great atmosphere, amazing classes, wonderful teachers and going to school in Downtown Pittsburgh is lots of fun.
