Two assignments done for Point Park's Advanced Radio Production Workshop were recently broadcast on local radio programs.

Steve Kubitz, a 2011 broadcasting graduate, produced a five-part series of interview features with several Pittsburgh Pirates, who discussed their off-the-field interests, hobbies, music and facts about their lives. The series is being aired on "The Saturday Light Brigade" program, which is produced and hosted by veteran Pittsburgh radio personality Larry Berger. The program is broadcast on six public radio stations in the region. The series was produced as a required assignment in the Advanced Radio Production Workshop.

Grad student Dave Singer did extensive research on Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling and conducted interviews with people on all sides of the issue for his term project for the graduate-level Advanced Radio Production Workshop. On Aug. 19, Singer's 10-minute, in-depth feature report ran on two occasions during "Natural Gas Matters," a weekly program on WMBS Radio in Uniontown, Pa. Singer was also interviewed on-air after the first broadcast regarding his report.

His feature report also aired on KDKA Radio's "The Marcellus Shale and You" program. The hosts of the program, Ed Becker and Tejas Gosai, have since asked Singer to continue to report and write for the program and their website.
