The newly formed Point Park University chapter of the National Broadcasting Society won National Rookie Chapter of the Year at the Society's national awards ceremony in Los Angeles in March.
Students Matt Desmond, Alicia Lyons, Cassie Radack, Richelle Szypulski and Bernard Vincavage and adviser Associate Professor Anthony Moretti traveled to L.A. to attend the four-day broadcasting convention and awards ceremony.
The Point Park chapter of NBS was established during the 2011 spring semester and is open to the following majors/interest areas: TV/radio broadcasting, film, cinema, screenwriting, TV production, marketing, promotions, advertising, public relations, and multimedia.
The chapter will be traveling to two conventions next academic year: the regional conference at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., and the national conference in New York City.
Chapter President Matt Desmond said the organization is looking to expand greatly by the start of the 2011-12 academic year and recently selected an executive board.
