WPPJ, Point Park University's student-run radio station, was recognized by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) at the 71st Annual IBS National Conference in New York City in March. WPPJ received Golden Microphone Awards for "Best Station Event" for the Early Learning Institute Rock-a-Thon and "Best Podcast" for the "Lost & Forgotten" program produced by Kelsey Kahla and Nick Sperdute.

WPPJ staffers were also finalists in the categories of "Best Specialty Music Show" (Nick Sperdute), "Best News Feature" (Anthony Costulas), "Best On-Air Personality" (Nate Zerambo) and "Best Station Event Promo" (Val Palmieri and Nate Zerambo).

Point Park's radio station was one of only three awarded the IBS Gold standard for its overall operation.

IBS is a national college radio station organization made up of more than 1,000 member stations from across the United States.
