Kiesha Lalama Named Permanent Dean of the School of Theatre, Film and Animation at Point Park University Wednesday, May 6, 2026
After a national search, Kiesha Lalama has been named the permanent dean of the School of Theatre, Film and Animation at Point Park University. She had been serving as the interim dean since the school's establishment in January 2025, in addition to her role as executive producer of the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
“Kiesha has been incredibly effective in leading the School of Theatre, Film and Animation, establishing new initiatives that have resulted in increased enrollment, new academic programs and fundraising to support school operations,” said Dr. Chris W. Brussalis, President of Point Park University. “She is an important part of our university leadership and I am excited to see what she does next.”
Lalama will continue in her role as executive producer of the Pittsburgh Playhouse, where she will build on the dynamic artistic foundation she has already shaped. She will focus on artistic vision, creative direction and external engagement, further elevating the Playhouse’s reputation for excellence, innovation and community impact. However, an additional leadership role will be introduced to oversee production and operations of the Playhouse in an effort to ensure strong alignment between creative vision and execution.
“I am honored to continue serving in these roles as we advance the missions of both the School and the Playhouse,” Lalama said. “We remain committed to elevating our programs and strengthening our position as industry leaders through growth and innovation. We aim to expand opportunities for our students and community, while continuing to support and invest in the dedicated team whose talent and commitment bring this work to life each day.”
