Point Park University’s Ballroom DanceSport Team won first place in the Team Match against more than 20 teams from colleges across the United States in the recent USA Dance Nationals held in Pittsburgh.

In addition to placing first in Team Match, Point Park’s DanceSport Latin Formation Team defended its national championship title from last year, once again taking first in the competition.

The formation team now has the opportunity to represent Team USA at the 2027 Blackpool Dance Festival, as well as a potential to compete in the Formation European Championship Worlds in Vienna.

The Ballroom DanceSport Club is a relatively new addition to Point Park, but it has had considerable success to date, making the school one of the highest-scoring universities in the country in its first national appearance.

“This competition has spotlighted so many personal bests for our team, as well as helped build confidence for future events,” said Elizabeth Woodberry, senior dance with jazz concentration major, co-captain of the competition team, and club founder. “We are so grateful for these amazing opportunities and the support the university has shown.”
