Student Organization Spotlight: Forensic Science Club Tuesday, April 7, 2026
The near-death of a student organization. A thorough investigation to determine the cause. A concerted effort to restore it to life.
So goes the story of the Forensic Science Club, a once-thriving student organization that declined during COVID. This year, Ginya Lombard, a senior double-majoring in forensic science and biological sciences, managed to resurrect the club, which welcomes majors and non-majors to experience the excitement of learning crime-solving techniques.
The Forensic Science Club meets bi-weekly for events that meld scientific techniques with fun activities, such as cracking unsolved case files, extracting DNA from a strawberry or investigating a crime scene in the Point Park Crime Scene House.
Check out the Q&A below and visit a typical meeting in the video.

What does a meeting look like, and what kind of activities do you plan?
The Forensic Science Club allows all majors on campus to engage in forensics through fun and immersive events! We like our meetings to be engaging and fun. We host investigative game nights, simple DNA extraction and fingerprinting labs, mock crime scene investigations in the CSI House on campus, and more!
What has been a highlight so far?
One highlight has been the revival of the club on campus. Pre-COVID, the Forensic Science Club was a large part of campus life. It has been fun and challenging to get peers involved in this student-led club.
How have you personally benefited from participating in the Forensic Science Club?
Participating in the club has allowed me to become more involved on campus. It has also allowed me to act as a mentor/leader figure to many underclassmen Forensic Science majors.
Why should students join the Forensic Science Club?
Students should join the Forensic Science Club if they are interested in becoming more immersed in the world of forensic investigation, whether it be for fun or to learn more about the major!
How can a student get involved?
Students can get involved with the club by attending our bi-monthly meetings on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in AH 508. Students can stay updated by following our Instagram @ppu_forensics and by joining the Forensic Science Club on The Herd!
