Point Park University Signs Articulation Agreement with the Community College of Allegheny County Monday, March 18, 2024
The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and Point Park University have signed an articulation agreement that provides CCAC associate's degree graduates in 13 programs with seamless transfer opportunities to Point Park.
"This articulation agreement creates more clarity and certainty," said President Chris W. Brussalis. "When a student attends CCAC and gets their associate's degree in one of these articulated programs, they are locked and loaded. They can come to Point Park, and in two years or less, get their bachelor's degree."
The agreement enables students who have successfully completed a CCAC associate degree in Accounting, Accounting Specialist, Biology, Business Management, Business (TAOC), Criminal Justice & Criminology, Fire & Emergency Services, Liberal Arts, Paralegal, Psychology, Social Science and Social Work Foundation and who meet Point Park’s admission requirements to enroll with junior status at Point Park in an appropriate Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree program.
In addition, full-time, on-ground CCAC students meeting the conditions for acceptance will be awarded a Merit Scholarship ranging from $14,000 to $20,000 a year. These students will also receive a one-time Community College Transfer Scholarship for $2,000. Phi Theta Kappa students will receive an additional $1,500 a year.
Point Park and CCAC are continuing conversations about additional program articulation agreements, including one in the School of Education.
Provost Michael Soto believes the two institutions share values that make the partnership a good fit. "Point Park and CCAC share a commitment to high-impact, experiential learning opportunities that bring students into close contact with faculty mentors and industry partners," he said. "We're excited to expand opportunities for CCAC graduates to complete their bachelor's degrees and launch their professional careers at our downtown campus and at Point Park online."
This fall, CCAC celebrated the opening of the Center for Education, Innovation and Training, which houses state-of-the-art facilities for robotics, culinary arts, information technology and other programs. Brussalis toured the building and was inspired to dream about how CCAC and Point Park can collaborate on future initatives.
"We're going to be developing new programs in the future that have great synergies with what they're doing," Brussalis said. "It's a privilege to be partnered with such a prominent college in our region to make higher education more accessible and affordable to our community."
