Point Park University welcomes more than 800 incoming freshmen and transfer students this week. Many will come together to meet fellow classmates and University leaders at Convocation, scheduled for August 28, 2009 at the Sheraton Station Square Ballroom.

President Paul Hennigan, Ed.D. will be on hand to welcome students to their first formal Point Park ceremony.

"Heading to college is an exhilarating experience for a young adult. Convocation offers new students an opportunity to begin forging a lifelong bond with Point Park," Hennigan said. "It's a chance to meet new friends, learn about the scholastic experience, and embrace the Point Park tradition."

Point Park University provost, Charles Perkins, Ph.D., will give students an overview of what to expect from their academic experience. Students will be introduced to school deans by vice provost and dean of faculty, Karen McIntyre, Ph.D. Ryan Deasy, president of United Student Government, will also offer attendees a few words of advice from a student perspective.

The program begins at 2:45 p.m. and will be followed by a light reception for students, faculty, and staff.
