Wellness On-The-Go Vending Machine

The Student Health Center's Wellness On-The-Go Vending Program provides convenient access to health, wellness, sexual health, and personal care products at locations across campus. What began with our first vending machine in the Student Center in September 2024 has now expanded to five Wellness On-The-Go vending machines across Point Park's campus.

The vending machines offer a combination of free health resources and affordable health and personal care products. Free items include sexual health supplies, condoms, menstrual care products, pregnancy tests, and Plan B emergency contraception. Other items are available for purchase, including over-the-counter cold and cough medications, allergy medications, pain relievers, heartburn and digestive relief, first aid supplies, personal hygiene products, and other everyday health and wellness essentials. Inventory varies by location, allowing us to offer a wider variety of products across the five machines.

Later this year, the Student Health Center will also open Wellness on the Shelf, an in-clinic extension of the Wellness On-The-Go program. Located inside the Student Health Center, Wellness on the Shelf will offer an expanded selection of affordable health, wellness, and personal care products, including items that may not be available in the vending machines.

Products available for purchase are obtained through healthcare wholesalers and are priced with only a minimal markup. The Wellness On-The-Go program is not designed to generate a profit. Any revenue generated through vending sales is reinvested into Student Health Center programs and services for Point Park students.

Point Park University's Wellness On-The-Go program was initially made possible through funding from the Jewish Healthcare Foundation's College and University Health Vending Grant Program. The Jewish Healthcare Foundation served as fiscal agent for federal Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services to support efforts to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity and support families throughout Pennsylvania.

Vending Machines are located in the Student Center Lobby, 2nd floor of Academic Hall, Boulevard Apartments Lobby, West Penn Hall Lobby, and 4th floor of Lawrence Hall.

The Wellness Drop

We don’t judge. We just drop.

Need condoms or pads but don’t want to make an awkward CVS run? We got you.

The Wellness Drop is your go-to for free sexual health supplies and menstrual products. Whether you need condoms, lube, tampons, or pads, just fill out the request form and we’ll discreetly deliver your items right to your on-campus dorm. Not living on campus? You can also choose to pick them up from the Student Health Center.

Orders are typically processed within 2 to 3 business days by your friendly neighborhood health team (that’s us).

The Spicy Book Nook

Launched on Valentine's Day 2024, the Spicy Book Nook is the Student Health Center's free romance lending library, created entirely through generous book donations from authors, publishing companies, students, and other supporters. The collection includes romance across genres, tropes, identities, and spice levels, ranging from sweet, closed-door romance to five-chili-pepper spicy. Students are welcome to browse the collection, borrow a book, and return it when they're finished so another reader can enjoy it.

We're continually growing the collection and especially welcome books featuring LGBTQ+ and BIPOC characters, authors, and stories that reflect the diversity of the Point Park community.

Have romance books you're ready to part with? Donations are always welcome! Drop them off at the Student Health Center and help us keep the Spicy Book Nook stocked with new happily-ever-afters.

Harm Reduction Supplies

The Student Health Center offers free harm reduction supplies in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department. Available items include:

Narcan (Naloxone) – medication that can reverse opioid overdoses
Fentanyl Test Strips – to check substances for fentanyl
Xylazine Test Strips – to check substances for xylazine (“tranq”)

Supplies are available to all Point Park University students, no questions asked. Visit the Student Health Center during regular business hours to pick up what you need and to learn how to use these tools effectively.

Protected Pleasure Pantry

The Protected Pleasure Pantry is a sexual health initiative developed by the Student Health Center to increase access to safer sex supplies, STI prevention information, and STI testing resources for Point Park students. The program was established with support from a grant from the American College Health Association (ACHA).

The Protected Pleasure Pantry has grown to include six permanent locations across campus, along with a mobile pop-up pantry used at campus events and outreach programs. Students can access free condoms, lubricant, and other safer sex supplies at pantry locations without needing an appointment or visit to the Student Health Center.

In addition to providing supplies, the Protected Pleasure Pantry connects students with information about STI prevention, routine testing, and available STI testing resources. Educational materials and outreach help students better understand when and where to get tested and encourage routine sexual healthcare as a normal part of overall health. By bringing supplies, education, and testing information directly to students, the Protected Pleasure Pantry works to reduce barriers to sexual healthcare and give students the resources they need to make informed decisions about their sexual health.
