PAB Extends Scholarship Offerings to Students
Thursday, December 15, 2022 The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters has extended its partnership with Point Park University to offer $18,000 towards scholarships for another year. 
WTAE General Manager Chuck Wolfertz and Chief Engineer Paul Nowakowski show students the feeds and functions in the control room.

Summer Workshop Introduces High School Students to Journalism Careers
Tuesday, July 2, 2019 From behind-the-scenes tours at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and PNC Park to watching a live broadcast of the noon news at KDKA-TV, 11 area high school students gained writing, interviewing and reporting experience at Point Park University's Summer Journalism Workshop.

High School Students Visit Point Park for Interactive Multimedia Storytelling Workshop
Tuesday, August 1, 2017 "The students learned about writing, interviewing, photography, video, multimedia and social media," said Robin Cecala, Ph.D., assistant professor of broadcast production. "Using their new skills, they documented their workshop experiences on their own website."
Fourteen high school students explored Downtown Pittsburgh and gained hands-on experience in their career-to-be at Point Park University's Interactive Multimedia Storytelling workshop held July 17-20 in the Center for Media Innovation.
Photojournalism Program Equips Alumnus with Skills to Excel in the Real World
Thursday, June 1, 2017 "I transferred to Point Park from Community College of Allegheny County because of the Downtown Pittsburgh location and the great communication programs. My father, who is also a Point Park alumnus, suggested the school to me. Photography was always something I was passionate about and when I was searching for schools, Point Park was one of the most well-rounded universities that offered a great photojournalism program."

Tuesday, February 7, 2017 Ben Schonberger, M.F.A., joined the faculty in the School of Communication as an instructor of photography in Fall 2016. Schonberger's work examines multiple systems that explore how identity is constructed and catalogued. Focusing primarily on masculine archetypes, Schonberger's work is designed to address the complexities around narrative, reference and faith.

Point Park University announces new Center for Media Innovation
Wednesday, October 21, 2015 School of Communication students will gain hands-on experience in their major in the University's new Center for Media Innovation, set to open in 2016. Located at Wood Street and Third Avenue, the 4,000-square-foot center will have floor-to-ceiling glass walls, flat-screen televisions and a digital ticker that offers a New York City-style media hub where passersby can be entertained and informed as students learn their craft.

Monday, April 6, 2015 Hannah Altman, a sophomore photography major, never imagined that a personal photo project she shot in her dorm room would receive national attention. Altman posted her work - And Everything Nice, a series exploring the perception of female beauty - to her Tumblr account, and within 24 hours it was featured on BuzzFeed, Huffington Post and Cosmopolitan.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014 "The range of courses we offer is spectacular. The photography and photojournalism programs are ambitious and diverse. Most programs only have one photo history course, we have two (along with your standard art history). While institutions are headed towards full digital, it is our darkrooms that separate us from the rest. We not only have traditional black and white, but also a traditional color darkroom. We offer courses in alternative photographic processes, large format, experimental, etc. The reason for this is not to turn our backs to digital, but to offer alternative modes to image creation. We offer just as many courses in digital printing, editing and studio."
