Family Weekend online registration is scheduled to be open from Sept. 1-29. Registration is subject to early closure if the event sells out.
Planning Your Visit
Visit the Schedule of Events page to plan your family's activities and events before beginning the registration process.
Discuss your plans with your student to make sure they will be available. Classes, rehearsals, athletic games, jobs, etc. are still taking place, and your student may have obligations they must meet.
Please let us know if someone in your family requires special accommodations for the events on campus. For more information about special accommodations at off-campus events such as the National Aviary, Phipps Conservatory, Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, or Schenley Oval Sportsplex please visit their websites or contact them directly.
The Family Weekend registration fee is $10 per person and includes admission to the following events and activities:
- Welcome reception
- Dance and theatre performances
- Student film screenings
- Student photo gallery exhibit
- Family Weekend Exploring Pittsburgh courtesy shuttle for exploring some of Pittsburgh's neighborhoods on Saturday
- Cross Country meet
- Java & Jazz in the Park
- Hotel shuttle (Friday and Saturday evenings)
- Point Park Family Brunch
While the cost of admission to all of the above is covered by your registration fee, when registering you must indicate the number of tickets needed for each event your family wishes to attend. Point Park students attending Family Weekend events will need to be included in your registration and pay the $10 registration fee. Please note that registration and discount ticket fees are non-refundable.
For the family members you are registering for Family Weekend, you may also purchase discount tickets at the time of registration for the following venues:
- Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium - $11/person
- Regular admission: $14-16/person; children under 2 are free
- All active duty, reservists, and veterans of the United States military receive free general admission with proper identification (i.e. military ID, DD-214)
- Zoo members are free, subject to the terms of their membership agreement*
- Ticket expiration: September 2017 (approximately one year)
- National Aviary - $9/person
- Regular admission: $13-14/person; children under 2 are free
- Family Weekend tickets are general admission; families who wish, may upgrade their tickets on arrival at the Aviary ($5 each) to expierience their shows and feedings
- Aviary members are free, subject to the terms of their membership agreement*
- Ticket expiration: Never
- Phipps Conservatory - $13.50/person
- Regular admission: $14-15/person; children (2-18) $11; children under 2 are free
- Phipps members are free, subject to the terms of their membership agreement*
- Ticket expiration: September 2017 (approximately one year)
Please Note: You will need to purchase tickets for all family members who wish to visit each venue, including Point Park students, or you will be required to pay the posted admission price upon entrance to the venue.
*Zoo/Aviary/Phipps members: If your membership agreement provides free admission to the venue, you do not need to purchase tickets through Point Park Family Weekend; however, if the number of people in your party exceeds that which is permitted with your membership, you will need to purchase the extra tickets here at the discounted rate, or pay the posted admission price upon entrance to the venue.
It is important that you check in for Family Weekend in order to pick up your welcome packet, which will contain all of your tickets for the weekend's events. If you do not purchase discounted tickets through Family Weekend for the Zoo/Aquarium, Phipps, or Aviary, you will pay the posted admission price upon entrance to those venues. Lost tickets may not be able to be replaced.
The fees are paid by credit card at the time of registration; please have your credit card available before proceeding. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
Ticket Limitations & Sold Out Events
Please be aware that some activities are offered multiple times, such as the dance/theatre performances and the student film screenings so that we can accommodate as many families as possible at these events. All performances and screenings are the same, and while we encourage families to participate as much as they would like in the weekend's festivities, there are a limited number of tickets for most events.
So that all families have the opportunity to attend the various activities, each family is limited to one performance or viewing, when more than one of the same is offered.
Families who decide not to attend an on-campus event for which they have tickets may turn them in at check-in so other families may use them. Families who would like to attend additional performances or screenings, or obtain tickets to sold out events, should inquire at check-in to see if any tickets may have become available. If there are any empty seats at a performance or screening after all ticketed guests have been seated, we will be happy to seat guests without tickets. If there is an additional cost associated with the tickets, such as with the zoo or museums, you will need to pay at that time by cash or check payable to Point Park University.
Registration Process & Confirmation
Once you click on the registration link below, you will have created a new registration; however, your registration is not complete until you have successfully completed the entire process, including payment (you will need to pay by credit card at the time you register). Once your registration is finalized, a new window will open in your browser confirming this. You must view, print, and/or save your confirmation, which is a pdf file, at this time. A confirmation will not be emailed to you.
Once you submit a registration for your family, you are not able to make changes to it yourself online; please contact the Office of Student Affairs to discuss the change and best course of action.
