VIDEO / DVD AUDITION GUIDELINES

International Summer Dance


Audition for Summer Dance Via DVD, YouTube, or Vimeo.

Acceptance into the International Summer Dance program is by audition only. Dance applicants who cannot audition in person may submit a videotape by DVD, youtube or vimeo link for artistic acceptance. Applicants should complete the "Video Audition" form and submit it no later than April 5, 2019.


The video audition will need to include the following:  Please note that all movement should be executed with the appropriate music.

  1. Ballet Barre - pliés, tendus from 5th position, dégagés, rond de jambes, frappés, adagio and grand battements
  2. Ballet Center - pirouettes, adagio, petit allegro and grand allegro
  3. Ballet combinations
    • Women: please include pointe work combinations in center containing relevé, échappé, and piqué turns.
    • Men: please include two turning combinations, a combination with tours en l'air, and petite allegro with beats.
  4. Jazz or Modern - a combination roughly one minute in length demonstrating turns, jumps and floor work
  5. Optional -  A short classical variation for men and women

Auditioning students are expected to present a professional appearance. Loose clothing, sweat-warmers, skirts and leg warmers are not permitted. Female applicants will secure long hair in a bun.

DVD Submission : Please complete the video audition form, label your DVD, and mail to the address below with your $40 audition fee. DVD's may be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Once received, videos may take up to four weeks to be reviewed.

Online Submission: Please complete the video audition form and mail it to the address below with your $40 audition fee. When your online audition is posted please email the the YouTube or Vimeo link to mshahen@pointpark.edu or print the HTTP address on the video audition form

Video File:  You may also email or copy your video audition onto a DVD, CD or flash drive as a .mov or .mp4 file. If sending a dvd or CD, please remember to "finalize" or "close" the disk before sending otherwise it will not play on another computer.
