***As of July 2023, Let's (TELE) Talk sessions are not currently being offered. Let's (TELE) Talk availability may change in the future, and updates will be added to our website to reflect these changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the UCC. ***

Let’s (TELE) Talk provides a virtual, drop-in service that offers informal, confidential consultations with a clinician. These consultations are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL and open to all currently registered Point Park students. Consultations are on a first come, first serve basis. It's a great option for students who may not need traditional weekly counseling, but who could benefit from one-on-one support and consultation. Let’s (TELE) Talk is NOT a substitute for traditional counseling.

What happens in a Let’s (TELE) Talk session?

The Let’s (TELE) Talk trained professional will carefully listen to your concerns and will most likely ask you some brief questions to understand your goal for the conversation. Once your problems and goals are clear, depending upon your needs, they will offer you suggestions for addressing the concern. You are welcome to return to Let’s (TELE) Talk at another time, but this decision is up to you. No follow-up appointment is necessary.

In addition, if your Let’s (TELE) Talk professional assesses that you could benefit from a higher level of care, they will help you identify appropriate resources at the University or surrounding communities.

Let’s (TELE) Talk visits are confidential. Are there any limits to that confidentiality?

Conversations with Let’s (TELE) Talk professionals are confidential, with few exceptions: (1) when there is an imminent threat of harm to you or others; (2) a current abuse of a minor, an elderly person, or someone otherwise incapacitated; (3) mandated by the court or judge. Let’s (TELE) Talk professionals are required by law to report the information you shared in the above situations.

I am currently seeing a therapist at Student Counseling, and I would like to talk to someone sooner than my next appointment. Can I go to Let’s (TELE) Talk?

If your next appointment is not soon enough, it’s best to contact your counselor directly to see if they can see you sooner. Let’s (TELE) Talk is not a substitute for traditional counseling or psychiatric care.
