University Counseling Center
Getting started at the UCC is easy!
At present, the center is able to provide a combination of in-person and online services. Please review the information on this website to learn about the range of services offered. If you are interested in any service at the UCC, get in touch to learn more or schedule a consultation.
Operations as of the 2026-27 Academic Year
The Point Park University Counseling Center (UCC) addresses the mental health needs of the university community through a variety of services. We provide a safe, confidential environment for students to talk about personal or academic concerns. We assist students who need to connect with mental health resources in the community, and support staff and faculty who have concerns about the well-being of a student. We strive to promote students’ capacity for psychological growth and maturation through greater self-awareness and psychological insight.
Services Through the UCC Are Free
The UCC offers mental health services at no cost to all enrolled students, whether full-time or part-time, commuter or resident. Presently, the UCC can offer students 8-10 individual therapy sessions per student per academic year. Sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long, and are scheduled to meet biweekly. Students come to the UCC for a variety of reasons. In some cases, students use therapy for self-exploration as a way to better understand themselves. Some students are looking for emotional or psychological support to learn how to deal with a particular mental health challenge. Whether it feels big or small, the UCC is here for you and ready to talk with you about it!
Services Are Confidential
The UCC supports students in a confidential and caring way. Confidential services for students include consultation, individual psychotherapy, groups, crisis support, and referrals. Our staff also provide consultation and education for students, faculty, staff, and family members to address concerns regarding the well-being of a student, and questions about our services or psychological treatment.
Services Go Beyond Traditional Individual Therapy
The UCC provides group therapy (offerings differ each semester depending on student demand), in addition to a range of online services, including workshops, mindfulness classes, consultation and virtual therapy. While some of these services are available to any interested student, therapy offered virtually may not be available to students for whom this modality is not appropriate. You can discuss options with a therapist in consultation and determine what’s best for you.
Alternative Supportive Services Are Available
If you need support outside the UCC's traditional hours of operation, we encourage you to reach out to one of the options below that can provide immediate support for mental health concerns and/or crises:
