POSITION: Lab Associate

DEPARTMENT: Natural Sciences & Engineering

REPORTS TO: Department Chair

WORK SCHEDULE:  Fully On-Campus

Primary Function: The Lab Associate supports the research and educational activities of the Natural Sciences & Engineering Department by assisting with laboratory operations, maintaining equipment, and providing technical support to faculty and students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering).
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety protocols
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare laboratory materials and equipment for experiments and demonstrations.
  2. Assist faculty and students with experimental procedures and techniques.
  3. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory facilities.
  4. Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning.
  5. Assist in the development of new laboratory procedures and experiments.
  6. Manage and enforce safety protocols in the laboratory.
  7. Follow laboratory protocols as it relates to disposal of hazardous materials.
  8. Keep accurate records of laboratory procedures, experiments, and inventory.
  9. Provide technical support and training to faculty, students, and staff.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a laboratory environment.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals.
