Accompanist - Musical Theatre

Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts is looking for a motivated, experienced individual to fill the full-time (with benefits) position of piano accompanist in the Musical Theatre program. This is a temporary appointment beginning on August 15, 2023 and ending on May 15, 2024, with the possibility of extension/renewal.

PPU’s Conservatory is committed to equity, diversity, access, and inclusion. Therefore, we are actively seeking candidates with training and/or experience that will support our diverse student body, as well as sustain the implementation of inclusive pedagogies and training practices.

The ideal candidate will have professional experience as a musical director and collaborative pianist in the classroom, rehearsal, and performance settings. The candidate would have the ability to cold read and transpose on sight and have expert knowledge of musical theatre repertoire of all styles from traditional to contemporary, including pop/rock music, and how it is integrated into training the musical theatre actor.

With a resume inclusive of professional musical direction, qualified candidates would also have the opportunity to be employed as adjunct faculty to teach Ensemble Singing classes to BFA Musical Theatre majors. Additionally, if desired, the candidate may have the possibility of being employed by the Pittsburgh Playhouse as a Musical Director for the mainstage conservatory season.
